In your search for the right preschool, you may have come across programs that label themselves as “play-based”. Play-based learning is a common term in the early childhood education world. But what does it really mean? Perhaps more importantly, the sort of setup Sonos envisages the Playbase being used in – that of connecting your audio sources to your TV and having that pass audio to the soundbase itself – isn’t as straightforward as you might think. You not only need to ensure that all your sources are passing the correct signal to the TV, but also that the TV is passing that correctly through to the Playbase itself. Beyond stimulating young minds to be receptive to learning, play is a necessary component of brain development for children. “Not only is it an incredible source of fun and socialization, but play is also crucial to children’s learning and development. Their intellectual, physical, and social-emotional abilities emerge and are strengthened through play,” says Katie Chiavarone, blogger and author of The Undeniable Power of Play: 101 Tips, Activities and Play-Based Learning Strategies to Engage Your Child. “It is in the context of play that children test out new knowledge and theories. They reenact experiences to solidify understanding. And it is where children first learn and express symbolic thought, a necessary precursor to literacy. Play is the earliest form of storytelling. And, it is how children learn how to negotiate with peers, problem-solve, and improvise.” What the research says about play-based learning

Self chosen: A child voluntary chooses to play, how they’ll play, and for how long. An adult may initiate play insofar as he or she invites or suggests play but the child determines the rest. Lauren Harness, MEd, agrees. “When people say ‘play-based learning,’ I think what they go to is: ‘Just put them in a room with a bunch of toys and let them go at it. There you go, that’s play-based learning.’ But really purposeful play should be in classrooms, especially in a kindergarten classroom. In children’s brains, when they’re playing, they’re doing the deepest learning. We know that through Piaget, Vygotsky, and all those good theorists who talk about the importance of play with young children. The different levels of learning that they’re able to get into during play is a lot deeper than pulling out a worksheet and having them fill in bubbles and that sort of thing.” How to develop a play-based curriculumHaving the right tools is the key to mastering your instrument. There are a few essentials beginner bassists should have to get started: According to a study conducted by the Gesell Institute for Human Development, even though kindergarten has become increasingly focused on academic skills, children pass cognitive milestones at the same rate as in the past, before kindergarten became this serious. Assuming you do get the intended spacious sound, you’ll find it’s combined with bass that’s punchy, authoritative and energetic. The bass here is far more natural and tonally expressive than that of the Playbar, which feels as though it’s compensating hard for its diminutive chassis and sounds a little artificial as a result.

In a play-based pre-K program, children can typically choose activities that appeal to their current interests. Play is used as a vehicle for teaching social studies, science, literacy, and numeracy, letting teachers convey information in a way that’s engaging and fun. To an outsider, it may look as though children are just playing. In this guide, we’ll show you some bass guitar basics, helping you get started on your musical journey. We’ll give you some pointers on how to choose a bass guitar, tuning tips and finger technique, as well as how to play a song on bass. In This Guide

It tells the stories of the museum in a hands-on, stimulating environment while also supporting children’s learning and development. Overall we enjoyed our time with the Sonos Playbar and ended up liking it a lot. It made playing music so simple that we wanted to have music playing at home all the time. It might not sound as good as the Focal Dimension soundbar and sub, but the Playbase is half the price.
