Now after one season in Formula One, I have the experience to know how to plan my year differently so I can be more structured and have more time for myself and for my family. It won’t be long before we can go partying together – and I am dying for the time when he is old enough so we can go out to a club or just do our own thing. I just hope that by writing about him, he doesn’t get too big-headed because, if he does, I will have to make sure he soon forgets it! By the age of eight he was racing karts, at ten he drove to his first British championship, and at thirteen he was signed to the McLaren team.

Lewis ci permette di entrare nel suo mondo, ci mostra come tutto è cominciato, i sacrifici fatti da lui e dalla sua famiglia, i suoi sogni e le sue speranze. However, living such an exciting life and in an environment where you have to win because everything else is a failure. He just never gives up and always puts 100 per cent effort into trying something even if he knows it’s too much for him. Thanks to my family, I know it is important not to lose perspective – though at times in the past year, that has not been easy. It had been a fantastic season and instead of feeling down, or in any kind of pain, I felt we had a lot to celebrate and enjoy.Dad is my biggest supporter, and a fantastic father, without whom I may not have even discovered I had any talent for racing.

As the story of his rookie season in F1 and the route to get there it was an interesting view on Lewis' motivations, but it was a little self-indulgent and repetitive. To think I came straight from GP2 to be ranked number two in the world is a positive thing and I know we will be strong next year. After the Turkish Grand Prix, for example, and before I had to travel to Italy, I went home to my parents’ house in Hertfordshire.

My conclusion is that the book was written mainly to defend Hamilton’s part in the accusations against McLaren happening in 2007. I also liked to have additional context about some of the reasons behind the rivalries we see today (Fernando Alonso and The Piquets) and hearing about some of the controversies of 2007 from Lewis himself. I absolutely loved reading about his past and his upbringing his struggles and his successes, the true of history would be his dad.

I would have loved loved loved this book if it was following the events of 2016 or 2021 because that is honestly a need. The whole journey for me, from my earliest days as part of the McLaren and Mercedes-Benz family to Formula One, has been quite emotional.Few 22-year-olds have achieved enough to warrant 290 pages of reminiscence, but Hamilton is the exeption.

The whole operation period was a very traumatic time for us all, in particular Nic, who, when the time came to take off his plaster casts, thought the doctors were going to cut his legs off. I had arrived in São Paulo leading the championship by four points, but I left in second place, just a single point behind the new champion Kimi Räikkönen.Rather a shameless opportunity to cash in at the end of what was one of the best F1 seasons for years. He looks back in detail at the 2007 World Championship: his four race wins, the frightening crash in Germany, his rivalry with team-mate Fernando Alonso, his special relationship with Ron Dennis, and what it's like living under the spotlight of the paparazzi -- right up to the last race of the season in Brazil.
